Multiscan began operating in the Pardubice hospital in mid-2002 and provides care for patients of the Pardubice Region in the field of clinical and radiation oncology. In accordance with the concept of oncological care in the Pardubice Region, in 2005 Multiscan secured the operation of a clinical oncology outpatient clinic in Svitavy and in 2006 took over oncology outpatient clinics in Chrudim and Ústí nad Orlicí.
On the initiative and with funding from Multiscan, a modern inpatient section was built at the Pardubice Regional Hospital. In the middle of 2009, in an effort to continuously improve the quality of care provided, the Department of Central Preparation of Cytostatics of the subsidiary Multiscan Pharma s.r.o. started its operation. In this department, medicines are prepared for cancer patients under strict hygiene and safety measures for all Multiscan clinical oncology outpatient clinics in the region and inpatient wards of the Pardubice Region Hospital.
In 2010, with the support of EU funding, the instrumentation of the Multiscan Oncology Centre was significantly upgraded. Specifically, it is a state-of-the-art computed tomograph with a wide imaging field, essential for radiation oncology, and a new magnetic resonance imaging machine. Another heavy linear accelerator from Varian, equipped with the RapidArc beam intensity modulated radiotherapy technique and image-guided radiotherapy system, completed the technical equipment of the centre.
In 2015, another significant upgrade of the equipment was made with EU funds by purchasing a new generation Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator, allowing, in addition to the already mentioned possibilities, high-precision high-dose stereotactic irradiation of lesions.
