18. 12. 2025

The Comprehensive Oncology Centre in Pardubice has been reconfirmed as a centre of highly specialised oncological care for adults. After five years, the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic has appreciated the quality and stability of care provided jointly by the Pardubice Region Hospital and Multiscan. For patients, this means the assurance of modern, coordinated treatment supported by cutting-edge technologies and highly professional staff.

The Comprehensive Cancer Centre of the Pardubice Region has maintained its prestigious status thanks to the fact that it has proven to meet several key conditions over the long term. First of all, qualified medical staff with the necessary expertise is essential in order to provide continuous and safe diagnostics and treatment, including follow-up care. "Equally important is functional multidisciplinary cooperation with clearly defined competences and effective coordination between the different disciplines. For patients, the defence of the status means the certainty that they will continue to find comprehensive oncological care at the highest level in the Pardubice Region in the future. For the medical staff, the status of the centre represents not only professional prestige, but also a stable background, the possibility of further professional growth, involvement in modern treatment procedures and long-term development of the workplace," says Tomáš Gottvald, Director General of the Pardubice Region Hospital , adding that defending the status is also a commitment for both medical facilities to continue to develop and bring new treatment options.

The centre must also have adequate material and technical equipment and facilities for diagnosis, treatment or long-term monitoring of patients. Organised and accessible care, adherence to clearly set standards and procedures that guarantee a high level of service are also integral. In addition, in order to be granted the status, it was necessary to meet the specified average annual number (for the years 2023 and 2024) of patients treated and medical procedures performed.

The power of collaboration: the hospital and Multiscan as one team

The Comprehensive Cancer Centre of the Pardubice Region is built on close cooperation between two departments - the Pardubice Hospital and the Multiscan Cancer and Radiology Centre. The Pardubice Hospital provides mainly inpatient oncological care within the Department of Clinical and Radiation Oncology, as well as complex onco-surgical treatment involving multidisciplinary teams composed of experts from both facilities. Multiscan focuses on the outpatient part of clinical and radiation oncology. In its outpatient clinics, patients undergo radiation, chemotherapy, hormonal or biological treatment and specialist consultations. "We very much appreciate the close and long-term cooperation with Pardubice Hospital. It is thanks to this partnership, mutual trust and high expertise of all the teams involved that we were able to successfully defend this prestigious title again. It is a confirmation that we are providing patients in the region with top-class and comprehensive oncology care at the highest level," says Sotirios Zavalianis, owner of Multiscan .

Confirmed status since 2014

The Pardubice Comprehensive Oncology Centre was ranked among the top oncology centres for the first time at the end of 2014, when the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic confirmed that the centre met all the required conditions and granted it the status of a centre of highly specialised oncology care for adults. It subsequently defended its level in 2019 and successfully continued this year. As a result, it can hold this prestigious status until the end of 2031.

Defending its status as a Comprehensive Cancer Centre is of significance beyond the borders of the region, as residents of other regions also seek care there. For the inhabitants of the Pardubice Region, the defence is particularly crucial because of the accessibility of health care. "It is a clear guarantee that top oncological diagnostics and treatment are available in the long term right in our region, without the need to travel to distant faculties or specialised centres outside the region for care. The centres of highly specialised care in our hospitals significantly raise the standard of regional healthcare and the quality of life of our inhabitants," concludes Pavel Štefka, Deputy Governor of the Pardubice Region for Healthcare, adding that he greatly appreciates the long-term mutual cooperation between the Pardubice Region Hospital and Multiscan.

Today, the Pardubice Region Hospital jointly operates nine types of highly specialised care centres. This is a clear confirmation of professional stability, continuous development and, above all, that patients in the Pardubice Region have access to modern, safe and high-quality care that meets the highest demands of specialised medicine.
