Ľubica Elichová, head nurse at the Oncology and Radiology Centre, came to Multiscan from a recruitment event at the Pardubice Hospital in Nitra. She described her journey in a short interview.

I was studying my last year at the secondary school in Nitra when we were approached by the Pardubice Hospital as part of a recruitment event. I joined the neurology department in 2002. Subsequently, I started my studies in Prague and graduated as a radiology assistant. In my first year I transferred to Multiscan oncology, where I always wanted to go. I started in 2006 as a nurse in the outpatient clinic and then, under the guidance of Associate Professor Dolezelj, I participated in the development of the brachytherapy department. Gradually, I graduated and worked simultaneously as a brachytherapy nurse and as a lab technician operating the analgesic irradiation machine. As Multiscan was positive about further studies, I started my bachelor's degree and after that my master's degree.

I notice a big difference between Multiscan in 2006 and today. There are a lot more of us, brachytherapy has modernized both in instrumentation and in the overall modernization of the department. Before we had outpatient clinics in several buildings, today we have a new, modern building and large, clean spaces. Times have moved very quickly and the epidemic situation has also forced us to respond to the changes that have occurred and to make our existing processes even more efficient. For example, we opened a sampling point, practically within a few days. At the moment, we are moving towards modernisation in patient identification, resuming educational activities for nurses that were suspended during the covid period, and, for example, developing cooperation with the university and secondary medical schools not only in the Pardubice Region.
