Department of Radiodiagnostics acquired a new CT machine

Since the beginning of May, people in Pardubice can use the new CT scanner at the expanded workplace of the Multiscan Radiodiagnostics Department. Until now, the department operated only at the Vektor polyclinic and the CT machine was shared with radiotherapists, but now the radiodiagnostics department has its own CT scanner, which is available to patients every day of the week.

The Department of Radiodiagnostics specialises in diagnostic imaging and is an integral part of the Multiscan Cancer and Radiology Centre. Annually, over 21,400 clients undergo MRI scans and approximately 6,800 people undergo CT scans in the Radiodiagnostics Department. The spectrum of clients is very wide, from cancer patients under the care of the Pardubice Cancer Centre to those who come to Multiscan for examinations from long distances and repeatedly.

Until last year, Multiscan had one CT machine, which was shared by the staff of the radiology and radiotherapy department. This is now changing and each department will have its own machine to best suit their diagnostic and treatment procedures.

"The purchase of a new CT scanner for the Radiodiagnostics department is the first significant investment in instrumentation this year. And because the existing layout at the Vektor Polyclinic was inadequate, we decided to buy the vacant space at Na Spravedlnosti, located near the polyclinic, and renovate it to suit our needs. The total investment amounted to more than CZK 30 million," said Multiscan's director Ing. Mgr. Martina Kulštejnová.

This means that locals and non-locals can now make an appointment at the brand new workplace with the latest Siemens Somatom x.Cite CT machine on the market. Its advantages are the reduction of X-ray doses to the lowest possible level and the inclusion of artificial intelligence functions. Another benefit is the large comfortable space for patients and last but not least the easy intuitive operation for medical staff.

"The new CT scanner means more comfort for us when handling patients due to the size of the gantry and the table's load capacity of up to 227 kg. On the technical side, we appreciate the setup of the device using a tablet, which we can always have at hand, and the automation of some procedures, which makes the operation easier and faster," said senior radiology assistant Bc. Eva Lupoměská.
