The first idea of supplying caps to oncology workplaces across the country for patients who have undergone chemotherapy was actually born by accident and out of some inner urge to help. In the first year, Ms. Venus, the founder of the cap project, collected over 280 caps and about 14 women, mostly from the Running Facebook group, participated in the production. In January 2020, two departments were donated, namely Oncology in Hradec Kralove and our Multiscan centre.
At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the community of women took up sewing the drapes again. And once again, Multiscan was not forgotten. Mrs. Venus and her friends from the group were one of the first to regularly supply us with swaddling cloths.
Now, almost a year later, we met again with Mrs. Venus over the handing over of more bonnets. Compared to last year's enthusiastic reunion, about 850 caps have been found so far. These will be given to seven cancer clinics. Because Ms. Venus reached out to more people this time through Facebook and paid donations, about 50 seamstresses joined the project. People who, for some reason, could not participate in the sewing but still wanted to join the project, contributed money to the established transparent account.
If you like Venus' idea, you can support it here.
Information from the first Multiscan ceremony can be found here.
And on behalf of the entire Multiscan Cancer Centre and our patients, we thank you very much and wish the project nothing but success and surpassed milestones in the coming years.
