Society of Radiation Oncology, Biology and Physics ČLS JEP awarded Associate Professor Jaroslav Vaňásek an honorary diploma for his lifetime contribution to the field of radiation oncology

Doc. MUDr. Jaroslav Vaňásek, CSc., long-time head of the Department of Clinical and Radiation Oncology at Pardubice Hospital and head physician of the Multiscan Radiology Centre, received an award for his lifelong contribution to the field of radiation oncology, especially for the introduction of irradiation techniques in external radiotherapy. He was awarded an honorary diploma by the Society of Radiation Oncology, Biology and Physics, which brings together experts in the medical fields of radiation oncology, radiation physics and radiobiology.

From 1993 to 1999, doc. Vaňásek was the head of the Department of Oncology and Radiotherapy at the University Hospital Hradec Králové. Since 1999, he worked at the Department of Clinical and Radiation Oncology of Pardubice Hospital, where he remained as the head of the department until 2019.

Doc. Jaroslav Vaňásek built a network of Multiscan's oncology departments throughout the Pardubice Region. He contributed significantly to the establishment of the Comprehensive Cancer Centre of the Pardubice Region, which he managed and where he introduced innovative treatment procedures, such as magnetic resonance imaging for radiotherapy planning, conformal brachytherapy or deep breath radiotherapy for breast cancer.

The rich publication activity of doc. Vaňásek's rich research activity includes first-authored publications in the prestigious red journal International Journey of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics.
