On 15 May 2024, thousands of volunteers in yellow T-shirts will take to the streets to offer marigold flowers with a pink ribbon. This year's theme is breast cancer.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. The number of cases continues to rise, with nearly 7,500 women in the country receiving a breast cancer diagnosis each year. Thanks to diagnosis and modern personalised treatment methods, mortality rates are falling.
For successful treatment, it is above all necessary to arrive early. Mammography screening is used to catch the disease before any symptoms appear. Preventive screening reduces mortality by up to 30% because it is possible to treat a woman in the early stages of the disease. Mammography screening is for women aged 45 and over every two years.
The main goal of the League Against Cancer is to reduce cancer mortality in general, which it seeks to achieve through several programmes: cancer prevention and education on healthy living, improving the quality of life of cancer patients, and supporting cancer research and instrumentation in cancer centres.
Multiscan will continue to support this non-profit organization and, by purchasing the flowers, aims to raise awareness of the League's work and its deserving support activities related to cancer prevention and treatment.
You can also support the Czech Day Against Cancer by purchasing yellow flowers either on the streets or in brick-and-mortar shops.
