After the opening ceremony, the expert guarantor and organizer of the event, who, as last year, was the head physician of the Comprehensive Oncology Centre of the Pardubice Region, Professor Karel Odrážka, the President of the Czech Oncological Society, Associate Professor Jana Prausová, and the President of the Society of Radiation Oncology, Biology and Physics, Professor Martin Doležel, took the floor. From among the representatives of the Pardubice Region and the City of Pardubice, the Head of the Department of Health Pavel Čech and the 1st Deputy Mayor Jakub Rychtecký spoke briefly. Among others who welcomed the guests were the Dean of the Faculty of Health Studies of the University of Pardubice, Associate Professor Karel Sládek, the Director of the Regional Branch of VZP Hradec Králové, Engineer Michal Provazník and the General Director of the Hospital of the Pardubice Region, Dr. Tomáš Gottvald. The last words were spoken by the Executive Director of AKESO Holding, engineer Martina Kulštejnová and its owner, engineer Sotirios Zavalianis.
The two-day programme of the conference, which is organised annually by Multiscan s.r.o., included more than twenty-five lectures on various oncological topics, followed by discussions on the latest procedures and methods in the treatment of solid tumours.
In addition to Czech experts, foreign oncologists also presented their lectures. The first of them were Professor Michael Brada from the University of Liverpool, who participates in the Pardubice Oncology Conference every year, and Dr. Lubomír Skopal from Haguenau, France, who focused on the availability of chemotherapy and modern treatment in France. On the second day of the conference, oncologists from Newcastle Hospital - Associate Professor Josef Kovařík, Dr Shahid Iqbal and, via an online connection, Dr Charles Kelly also gave presentations. The five international guests were joined by Dr Petr Daniel Kovařík from Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in England and Dr Zuzana Lovasová from Västerås in Sweden with her paper Benchmarking in Nordic Radiotherapy.
Czech oncology was represented by representatives of oncology departments from all over the Czech Republic. For example, Professor Bohuslav Melichar from the Olomouc University Hospital presented his paper Immunotherapy in the complex treatment of lung cancer, Professor Jiří Petera from the Hradec Králové University Hospital presented the topic of high dose rate brachytherapy in organ-sparing treatment of early penile cancer, Professor Pavel Šlampa from the Brno University Hospital represented oncology and Professor Pavel Šlampa focused on the influence of pandemics in the strategy of radiotherapy in lung cancer. The conference was also attended by representatives of Prague and Pilsen oncology centres, such as Professor Tomáš Büchler with a lecture on renal cell carcinoma or Professor Jindřich Fínek, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Pilsen, who presented a paper on predictive testing in oncogynecology.
After the end of the first day, a social evening awaited the participants of the Controversies, where the singer Václav NOID Bárta with the band Bek Bek Klan and then the musical group James Band performed.
