New caps for cancer patients reached our patients again after a year

As has become a nice custom after four successful years, this year Mrs. Věra Venuše Rybová from the Pod Čepičkou Foundation brought caps for our oncology patients. For the fifth year, volunteers from all corners of our country found over 3,000 caps, which Mrs. Věra will deliver to 20 oncology departments across the Czech Republic.

Věra has many other ideas in her head on how to expand her project to support cancer patients even further. In addition to the traditional sewing of hats, which she started in 2019 with a group of friends from the running group and has now grown into a nationwide event, she has already established a support Facebook group for cancer patients, where patients can share their feelings, impressions and insights related to the disease and treatment.

"Although the 'caps' project keeps me very busy and I am practically only dedicated to it from September to December, I have never regretted it. On the contrary. It energizes me more and more because I can see through the feedback from patients that it is very meaningful. In 2019 I started with two clinics, now there are 20 and new and new hats are coming in from volunteer seamstresses every day during this period. It's a joy," says Vera Rybová with a smile, spouting off more ideas she would like to pursue. One of them, for example, is to create an educational booklet for children so that they know how to treat people with such a serious illness.

The handover of the caps at our cancer centre took place on 8 December 2023 and, as Vera Rybová likes to say herself, Multiscan is a matter of her heart. She started with our centre and we have been cheering her on and expressing our utmost support throughout the years.

"I have been aware of Vera's work since the beginning, but only now have I had the opportunity to meet her in person. She is a very inspiring person who tries to help selflessly even though she has a large family and goes to work every day. I am glad that her activity in our centre has taken off so well and I believe that we will continue our cooperation in the future," adds Martina Kulštejnová, Executive Director of AKESO Holding.
