Multiscan uses pipeline mail to transport oncology drugs

31. 1. 2020

In November last year, Multiscan started using the pipeline mail system to transport oncology drugs from its Multiscan Pharma pharmacy located in the detached pavilion of Pardubice Hospital.

And this system has worked. During the first weeks, nursing staff and pharmacists have not experienced any problems preventing the use of this technique to transport medicines that are inherently risky and destined to be handled sensitively. This demonstrates the correct design and technical implementation of the Sumetzberger system by Profiterm and the adaptation of the appropriate form of the medicinal products and innovative medical devices used at the level of preparation and application.

The implementation of this transport is part of the concept of process automation and saving human potential. Another subsequent step is the finalisation of a fully electronic transfer of information about the patient and his or her cancer drug from the doctor's office through preparation to the automatic setting of the infusion pumps during application. The aim is to increase the safety and flexibility of the management of anticancer drug administration with the direction of healthcare from less essential automated processes to the patient.
