In October 2010, within the framework of the project "Modernization and renewal of instrumentation" supported by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund and implemented within the Integrated Operational Programme through the Ministry of Health, the instrumentation of the Radiology Centre Multiscan Pardubice was significantly renewed.
A new computed tomograph Somatom Definition AS, manufactured by Siemens AG, was installed, which is mainly used in radiation oncology as a CT simulator to create a treatment plan for radiation therapy.
It is a state-of-the-art computed tomograph with a wide imaging field, essential for radiation oncology. However, this 40-layer (so-called multislice) device is also a full-fledged diagnostic device, meeting the most demanding requirements (very fast data acquisition from large areas of the body, with exposure automation reducing the dose of X-rays, which is important for the protection of patients from ionizing radiation). Therefore, like the previous device, it is also used for routine CT diagnostics, but with much greater comfort for the patient and with numerous new diagnostic possibilities.

In addition, a new Magnetom Avanto, 1.5 T MRI machine from the same company was installed as part of the "Modernization and renewal of instrumentation" project.
It was originally intended to replace the existing, old MRI machine from GE, located in Hall 24 on the premises of Pardubice Regional Hospital, a.s. However, due to the disrepair of the pavilion, it could not be installed there and the machine was placed in a completely new polyclinic in the centre of Pardubice. (The polyfunctional house in Rokycanov Street No. 2798, where Multiscan s.r.o. purchased the premises originally intended for X-ray imaging [a digitised scanning workplace, which had to be abandoned].)

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) examinations can be burned onto CDs (DVDs) or, using the ePacs system available at our sites, entire examinations can be sent electronically to medical facilities connected to this system.
In order to achieve truly top quality equipment, guaranteeing the highest world standard of care for several years to come, Multiscan has added a further CZK 20 million of its own funds to the CZK 80 million subsidy from European funds, bringing the total cost of the upgrade to close to CZK 100 million.
