International Day of Radiology falls on 8 November every year. The Faculty of Health Studies of the University of Pardubice decided to join the celebration of this global holiday and organized the first professional meeting of doctors, radiology assistants and students of Radiology Assisting in the school auditorium.
The educational programme of the colloquium with the theme Radiology and Sport was opened by the Chairman of the Committee of the Society of Radiological Assistants of the Czech Republic Mgr. Ondřej Krahula, MBA. Other speakers included Prof. Jiří Petera, M.D., Ph.D., Head of the Department of Oncology and Radiotherapy at the University Hospital Hradec Králové, who introduced the topic of the influence of sport on the quality of life of patients treated with radiotherapy, or the Head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine at the University Hospital in Hradec Králové and the guarantor of the field of Radiological Assisting at the Pardubice Faculty of Medicine doc. MUDr. Jiří Doležal, Ph.D. with a presentation on the contribution of nuclear medicine to the diagnosis of sports injuries. Before his presentation, he recalled the founding members of the field of Radiological Assisting at the Pardubice Faculty, Prof. MUDr. Arnošt Pellant, Dr.Sc. and MUDr. Dušan Spitzer, Ph.D., MBA.
The afternoon part was dedicated to the presentation of universities training radiological assistants and a panel discussion on the topic of Master's education of radiological assistants.
At the end of the program, the dean of the Faculty of Health Studies of the University of Pardubice, doc. Ing. Jana Holá, Ph.D., who on this occasion thanked Dusan Spitzer, M.D., Ph.D., MBA, the emeritus head of the Department of Radiology and Radiology of the Multiscan Oncology and Radiology Centre for his long-standing cooperation and for his significant contribution to the establishment and development of the Radiological Assisting study programme. Chief Spitzer was awarded a commemorative medal, which was received from Associate Professor Holé by Olga Spitzerová, also a long-time collaborator of the faculty. Associate Professor Holá personally thanked her for her cooperation with the faculty and for organizing practical exercises for students of the Radiological Assisting programme at the workplaces of the Oncology and Radiology Centre Multiscan Pardubice.
