I need non-cancerous radiotherapy

1 General instructions and information

Non-tumour (anti-inflammatory) radiotherapy is medical radiation therapy that is performed for selected inflammatory and degenerative diseases. The aim of the procedure is to relieve discomfort (mainly musculoskeletal pain).

In non-cancer radiotherapy, low doses of radiation are applied - more than ten times lower than in radiation therapy for cancer. Relief from discomfort usually occurs after a certain period of time has elapsed since the end of radiation, usually within 2 months. There may be a transient worsening at the beginning of radiation treatment. Low and higher doses used in non-cancer radiotherapy may rarely have side effects, especially in cases of repeated radiation in the irradiated field. Therefore, repeated radiation should be well considered by the physician with regard to the total radiation dose applied. The physician must be informed of any previous exposures. The risks of radiation are also increased after topical applications of corticosteroids or in the field of skin changes (skin irritation with irritant ointments, stinging, burns). If difficulties occur during or after irradiation in the irradiated area, the physician must be informed.

For the initial examination by the doctor, it is necessary to bring with you a recommendation for non-cancer therapy and a description of the diagnostic X-ray examination.

Patients who have already undergone non-cancer therapy outside Multiscan Pardubice should also bring a copy of the documentation including information about the doses applied.

X-ray irradiation treatment for non-cancer therapy is carried out every Tuesday and Thursday. The usual number of fractions is 3-4, the treatment is carried out twice a week.

Initial examination by a physician takes place at:
