"This is one of the important professional oncology conferences, which has built a significant position during the first seven years and many participants like to return to us", says Iveta Kolářová, M.D., Ph.D., Deputy Director for Clinical and Radiation Oncology. This year's "Controversies" will be dedicated to therapeutic approaches in the treatment of breast cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer or issues related to modern techniques of radiotherapy of cancer. "During the two-day conference, a total of 24 leading experts from comprehensive cancer centres not only from the Czech Republic but also distinguished guests from abroad will speak. In the opening session of the first day there will certainly be a very interesting lecture by doc. MUDr. Tomáš Büchler, Ph.D., Head of the Oncology Clinic of Thomayer Hospital Prague on the topic of stool transplantation in cancer treatment. In one of the other sessions, foreign participants MUDr. Zuzana Lovasová from the Oncology Clinic in Västeräs (Sweden) and doc. MUDr. Josef Kovařík, Ph.D. from Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals (UK).
On Friday, the conference participants can look forward to lectures by the Director of the Masaryk Cancer Institute prof. MUDr. Jan Žaloudík, CSc., Director of the Institute of Health Information and Statistics doc. RNDr. Ladislav Dušek, Ph.D. and the President of the Czech Oncological Society doc. MUDr. Jana Prausová, Ph.D., which will mainly concern the concept of oncological care in the Czech Republic.
The big star of our conference will be another foreign participant prof. Dr.med. Nadia Harbeck, Ph.D. from the University Hospital in Munich (Germany), who will focus on endocrine treatment of metastatic breast cancer. "During both days, other heads of oncology departments from Hradec Kralove, Prof. Jiří Petera, M.D., Ph.D., Masaryk Cancer Institute, Prof. Pavel Šlampa, Ph.D., and Olomouc, Prof. Bohuslav Melichar, M.D., Ph.D., will also present their papers." adds doc. MUDr. Jaroslav Vaňásek, CSc., Head of the KOC Pardubice Region, who is also the expert guarantor of this conference.
The conference will take place at the Kunětická Hora Congress Centre in Dříteč u Pardubic. The importance of this event is also supported by the fact that it was under the auspices of Mgr. et Mgr. Adam Vojtěch, Minister of Health of the Czech Republic, JUDr. Martin Netolický, Ph.D., Governor of the Pardubice Region, Ing. Martin Charvát, Mayor of the City of Pardubice and Prof. Josef Fusek, M.D., DrSc., Dean of the Faculty of Health Studies of the University of Pardubice.
"The conference will be officially opened on Thursday, 12 April 2018 at 12.30 pm, includes five expert thematic blocks and will be closed on Friday also at 1.20 pm. At the end of the first day of the conference, the popular Czech band Buty will perform during a social evening.
