We organized self-defense courses in Akeso Holding hospitals

One of the widespread myths about self-defense is that a woman can never resist a man and if she does, it is only with years of training. In our medical facilities we decided to provide employees with a self-defence course under the supervision of a lecturer and the only Krav Maga - KAPAP Master in the Czech Republic Ing. Michal Janoušek.

"Dozens of women have gone through the self-defense course and would certainly say that self-defense is basically very simple. If done smartly and correctly. It is always about preparedness and the element of surprise," said Michal Janoušek.

Krav Maga is the most effective self-defence system in the world and that is why we have prepared a basic course for our employees. The courses are held at the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun, the Hořovice Hospital and Multiscan Pardubice. During the three-hour training sessions, which take place during the month of March, 90 colleagues will learn about basic prevention of assault. They will also learn how to behave and react in the event of an attack. The typology of aggressors, the phases of a real attack and simple principles of self-defence are also briefly described. The whole course is also designed into a practical class, where participants can immediately try out the recommended procedures on each other. Not only the physique of each participant is affected, but also the psyche. "The realisation that we can meet an aggressor anywhere and at the same time whether we are able to cope with a crisis situation where seconds make the difference was challenging," said Gábina Žáková from the Hořovice Hospital after the course.

The participants were enthusiastic and would like to see the course continue.
"The self-defence course was successful, everything was perfectly prepared. Of course, it was impossible to learn how to defend ourselves in that time, but we all gained at least some basic awareness of how to do it, and we also tested our physical skills. Since it was contact based, it was also ideal team building. Otherwise, we would have had a hard time choking a doctor out of therapy at diagnostics," says Bc. Vladimír Matýsek from the Department of Radiodiagnostics.

"I would like to thank you for providing the self-defence course, which I enjoyed very much. If there is a possibility of another course, perhaps focusing on assault with a weapon, my colleague and I would not hesitate to take it again," adds one of our radiology assistants.
