After an initial welcome, the creators of the documentary Children of the Storm, director George Agathonikiadis and cinematographer Antonín Chundela, were introduced. Together with doc. Konstantinos Tsivos, PhD, outlined the theme of the film, which is the children's emigration to Czechoslovakia during the Greek Civil War.
The screening itself was slightly delayed, as many of the guests were among the actors in the film and the friendly atmosphere encouraged conversation and discussion before it started. More than 50 people did not miss watching the film and enjoying the time together. In addition to the employees of the Multiscan Cancer Centre, the event was also attended by representatives of the City of Pardubice, including the Deputy Mayor, Mr. René Živný. However, the largest group of guests was represented by Greeks living in the Czech Republic for a long time, who took the Greek Day as an opportunity to meet each other and to connect the close community.
The main character of the whole afternoon was the film director George Agathonikiadis. He not only shared with the audience his impressions from the filming of the movie, but also added a few stories from his life, his experience of living in the Czech Republic and Greece, compared the mentality of both nations and highlighted their strengths. The atmosphere of the event was very relaxed and the discussion between the two national sides more than thought-provoking.
The program, which turned out to be beyond expectations, was further supported by the installation of an exhibition of posters about the Greek regions, which were lent to Multiscan by the President of the Association of Greek Municipalities , Ing. Michalis Dulkeridiis, and a delicious Greek-style meal.
