The Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic together with the European Union announced in mid-2009 an Integrated Operational Programme to increase the quality and availability of public services in the field of controlled modernisation and renewal of instrumentation of national networks of healthcare facilities, including technical facilities. The grant project, prepared by the Radiology Centre Multiscan s.r.o., was recommended for funding by the selection committee of the Integrated Operational Project in September 2009 in the total amount of CZK 79,975,000.The decision to provide the grant was issued by the programme administrator, the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, on 27 November 2009.
The implementation of the project will enable the supplementation and modernisation of the instrumentation of the Radiology Centre of Multiscan, s.r.o. to the level meeting the requirements of the Ministry of Health standards for KOC. It is the only workplace in the Pardubice Region included by the Ministry of Health in the network of comprehensive oncology centres, where it operates in cooperation with the University Hospital in Hradec Králové. It is therefore obliged to provide demanding oncological care primarily for all patients in this region; it also offers its services to citizens in the eastern part of Central Bohemia.
The radiology centre, which is operated by Multiscan, s.r.o., provides radiation treatment at the top level, in the entire scope of the field. It is the only workplace in the Pardubice Region where treatment of malignant neoplasms with ionizing radiation is carried out.
The aim of the project is to create an offer of care in the required full standard, improve its quality and accessibility (the long-term higher incidence of malignant neoplasms in the Pardubice Region compared to the Czech Republic increases the pressure on the growth of the capacity of the workplace). This requires the purchase of missing equipment and technological renewal of some of the existing facilities, which are no longer able to perform the required examinations and treatment procedures in the highest quality due to their physical wear and tear, moral obsolescence and technological incompatibility. This currently leads, among other things, to the impossibility of full use of progressive examination and treatment functions of already installed technologies, it is not possible to fully use the capacities of already acquired modern equipment.
The subject of the project is:
- Acquisition of a multi-sequence CT simulator with the necessary planning system,
- acquisition of the necessary clinical dosimetry, including a phantom for IMRT and OBI,
- refurbishment and replenishment of the first linear accelerator with the aim of achieving comparable equipment to the new linear accelerator,
- upgrade of the MRI
The implementation of the project will take place during 2010, with tenders for the suppliers of the technologies to be acquired and preparation of the premises for their installation being carried out in the first half of the year, followed by their delivery and installation, including staff training, during September.
