The incident, in which a drowning man was rescued thanks to Mirka's help, occurred shortly after midnight on 9 May.
"While reading outside, she heard a faint cry that seemed like a cry for help. She didn't make it, but in the darkness of the night she had no chance to see anything. Nevertheless, she did not let the whole thing go and confided her fears to the emergency line 156 and 158," described the woman's courage, spokesman for the officers Jiří Sejkora.
