The Comprehensive Oncology Centre of the Pardubice Region (KOC PK) is one of the best oncology centres in the Czech Republic. Jaroslav Vaňásek, the head physician of the Multiscan Oncology and Radiology Centre and the head of the Department of Clinical and Radiation Oncology at Pardubice Hospital, was instrumental in its establishment. Together with his team of experienced doctors, he built a high-quality, dynamic workplace, introducing modern methods of treatment and regularly expanding services for patients not only from the Pardubice Region.
Based on the recommendation of Jaroslav Vaňásek, Karel Odrážka, a top expert in radiation oncology and a specialist in prostate cancer and other urological organs, will take over the position of the head doctor of KOC PK from the new year. Thanks to his extensive professional experience and perfect knowledge of the centre's operations, the appointment of Professor Odrážka to the position of the outgoing Associate Professor Vaňásek was a logical step, which only confirms the existing reputation of the department.
"The credit for the quality of the Comprehensive Cancer Centre of the Pardubice Region goes mainly to the people who work there. I believe that with Professor Odrážka as the head doctor, our workplace will continue to develop and provide the best care to oncology patients," said the managing director of Multiscan Ing. Sotirios Zavalianis.
Patient first
In cooperation with and with the support of Jaroslav Vaňásek, who will now hold the position of the Emeritus Chief of the department, Karel Odrážka will take care of the further development of KOC PK and the improvement of the quality and efficiency of its functioning.
Although it is a relatively young facility, the Comprehensive Oncology Centre of the Pardubice Region ranks among the best thanks to its top-notch care and equipment, efficient organisation of operations and smooth cooperation between the Hospital of the Pardubice Region and Multiscan, which together form it.
"The number of cancer patients is constantly growing and the Comprehensive Cancer Centre of the Pardubice Region has been a guarantee of the best care for them since its establishment. I am sure that, given his experience and knowledge of the environment, Professor Odrážka is a great successor who will continue to build the reputation of the Centre," said Tomáš Gottvald, M.D., MHA, Director General of the Hospital of the Pardubice Region.
The COMPREHENSIVE ONCOLOGICAL CENTRE OF PARDUBICK REGION (KOC PK) belongs to the network of healthcare facilities that meet the professional criteria of the Czech Oncological Society of the Czech Medical Society of Jan Evangelista Purkyně. Based on the decision of the Ministry of Health, it was granted the status of a centre of highly specialised oncological care for adults. This status is issued by the Ministry of Health only to selected facilities that meet specific conditions. In these centres, care is provided by top specialists who have the latest technology and centre drugs at their disposal. These centres are also training and research centres.
KOC PK provides comprehensive cancer treatment (radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive care and palliative care) to adult cancer patients. Its aim is to provide cancer patients in the Pardubice Region not only with the fastest possible diagnosis and treatment, but also to improve the quality of treatment by the most consistent use of interdisciplinary anti-cancer treatment led by teams consisting not only of oncologists, but also experts from other clinical disciplines.
