Taking you back home
You have cancer is a phrase no one wants to hear. Last year, however, it was heard by Viktor Pudil, who became a patient at the oncology ward of Hořovice Hospital. After some time, doctors suggested he undergo radiotherapy treatment on a linear accelerator at the Multiscan Cancer Centre. But how do you get to a treatment that can save your life in a city 180 kilometres away? We decided to solve this situation efficiently.
We arranged rides for the patients, which Mr. Pudil also used. "My treatment was 46 days of flawless hospital care. The irradiation facilities, which I had to stay near all the time, are fully occupied every day with a number of outpatients. However, the necessary time for maintenance of the equipment once a fortnight allows the hospital to give patients passes. And I took advantage of this opportunity to visit the home with car transport there and back," says Viktor Pudil enthusiastically. Arranging the transport was done by phone with the Multiscan staff and everything was confirmed by the driver. "The car was always there at the agreed time. There was also no problem with the eventual transport by car to the train station in the city, without using public transport," adds the satisfied patient.
Hotel in the centre and free of charge
Another huge advantage for patients is the possibility of accommodation right in the centre of Pardubice, so that they do not have to commute for treatment. Jiří Richter, who had to undergo radiotherapy for the same diagnosis as Mr. Pudil, also stayed at the Arnošt Hotel. As a nuclear engineer, Jiří had some knowledge of the treatment and its risks and decided to undergo it at the Multiscan Cancer Centre.
"In addition to the excellent staff and technical equipment, it was important to me that Multiscan offers patients outpatient treatment with hotel accommodation. I still have a number of work commitments and it was important for me to be able to work outside of treatment without disturbing my fellow patients in the hospital room. Although outpatient radiotherapy is offered by many other departments, it would have meant a daily commute and a loss of five hours of time," says Jiří, who particularly appreciated the separate room with breakfast and the walks in the surrounding countryside. Multiscan employees booked the hotel accommodation and the cost was borne by the cancer centre, as was the transport of the patients.
"Staying a short distance from the treatment site allowed me to continue my work."

Thank you to Eva Višková, head of the transport service at Multiscan:
Thank you very much on behalf of my mother, who appreciated especially your efforts to enable her to move comfortably from Kolín to Pardubice at any cost. Even though the conditions towards the end were quite complicated by the lack of cars, you solved everything brilliantly. My mother was most pleased that her last journey was with her favourite driver Pavel Tichy, who also deserves a big THANK YOU. I really appreciate people like you.
M. D.
